Agoo-Santo Thomas, Luzon, The Philippines: The Japanese landing at Agoo had come ashore unopposed initially. While the 47th Inf Rgt moves inland, the 48th Recon Rgt and the 4th Tank Rgt begin moving along Route 3, south toward Damortis, via Santo Thomas. US BGen WE Brougher, 11th Div (PA) commander, has sent forward a battalion of infantry to meet the Japanese and, if possible, disrupt the landing at Agoo. In the brush that follows the Philippino troops are routed and beat a hasty retreat south toward Damortis. Soon after, the US 26th Cavalry Rgt (PS), with attached elements, arrives south of Santo Thomas and attempts to stop the Japanese tidal wave.
