Iwo Jima Island (Best played by either side.): D+2. Having taken Airfield #1 the day before the Marines have conquered about a quarter of the island and have started to establish rear area facilities but Japanese artillery and rockets continue to hinder this process. The 28th Marine Regiment continues to chip away at the Mount Suribachi defenses while the rest of the 5th and 4th Marine Divisions continue to the drive north with Airfield #2 as the next prime objective. Japanese resistance continues to be fierce and unrelenting.
