Aug 12th, 1942. This scenario is based on the "Intro-Two" scenario from the Panzer Grenadier board game Kokoda Campaign by Mike Bennighof, Ph.D. In this meeting engagement Austrailian infantry from the C, D, and E Companies, 39th Infantry Battalion defends a village from elements of the Japanese 15th Independent Engineer Regiment and 1st Battalion, 144th Regiment. Objective for both sides is control of the village. In the real battle the main assault came on the left flank of the Australian line. Under constant fire most of the morning, the line bent but did not break. But as the Japanese broke off the attack early in the afternoon, Major Cameron knew his men could not fight off a second attack and he made plans to withdraw back to Isurava. There the Aussies would make a stand and wait for reinforcements. Deciding that they could not catch and destroy the Australians in retreat, the Japanese once again went back to waiting for the main body of the South Seas Detachment.
