Operation Ketsu-Go - The Matrix Games version of Rising Sun

Sasebo, 25km SE of Nagasaki, Japan: [Hypothetical; Best played as Allied] After ten days of bitter fighting, U.S. forces have managed to consolidate a foothold on the Island of Kyushu. Upon securing the Japanese naval installation at Sasebo, a fresh unit of the 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division has been landed there to sweep the coastal regions of Omura-Wan and prepare for the attack on Nagasaki. It is believed that Japanese resistance will be even more fanatical as US forces approach major urban centers. With casualties mounting, 8th Marines must spearhead the drive to Nagasaki, and foil the Japanese defense plan, code named operation Ketsu-Go. Rumors abound of a terrible new weapon that may be employed if enemy resistance cannot be broken soon. To assist this operation, the division engineer company has been attached with armored support, and the division recon company has been mounted in amphibious vehicles to enable shore to shore deployment. All ready air support will be made available.
