Mauywama, SE of Monywa, 100km W of Mandalay, Burma: [Best played against Human opponent] As the Japanese closed in on Mandalay in late April 1942, the British and Chinese forces diverged to follow their own retreat routes, the British via the Chindwin Valley toward Kalewa and Imphal. Vital to the retreating Burma Corps was the river port of Monywa situated on the east bank of the Chindwin River along which all logistical support was transported. With only the headquarters of the 1st Burma Division and a small garrison at Mauywama, 5 kilometers southeast of Monywa, elements of the 63rd Indian Brigade and light tanks from the 7th Hussars were ordered to rush from Sagaing and secure the retreat route. Meanwhile, General Sakurai commanding the Japanese 33rd Division had also recognized the importance of Monywa and managed to get trucks across the Irrawaddy River at Pakokku and thrust the 215th Infantry Regiment up the eastern side of the Chindwin. Just before first light on May 1st, the leading Japanese battalions crossed the river and attacked Mauywama to block the Commonwealth reinforcements from reaching the port. The winner of the race to Monywa was still in doubt!

Well designed scenario that depicts a small battle, but with room to maneuver for both sides. A classic!
