Tinian Island-Ten Miles of Hell - The Matrix Games version of Rising Sun

Tinian Island: Marianas Islands: July 24 - August 1, 1944. In this scenario you get to land the top brass on the beach. Two divisions 4th, and 2nd Marines about 43,000 men in all landed on White Beach 1 & 2. The Japanese Defences are over 9,000 men, half Army,half Navy. The battle takes place after the conquest of (Saipan June 15 to July 10, 1944) The 4th & 2nd Marines had fought on both Islands. June 11 started the air bombing. Ship bombardment started on the 14th. While the fight was still waging at Saipan 7,571 rounds had been fired on Tinian,and 24,536 more between 9 and 23 July.Tinian was sealed off from all air attacts. From Ushi Point, the principle Airfield (4,700 foot long) The famous B-29 "Enola Gay",one year latter carried the Atom Bomb to Japan. Also The first use of Napam was delivered on Tinian. The Destroyer "Normand Scott,1,800 yards off shore took six hits. The Battleship "Colorado" about 3,000 yards off shore takes 22 hits. This battle is very important. Two Major Generals come ashore ,along with many famous officers from Tarawa,and Roi-Namur. Keep the Regimental,and Battalion leaders with the HQ's, use the remaining Majors,Capts. to fight front lines. Map Note's: The maps is scaled 6.1 Hex's = 1 mile. Elevation = 25meters, or 65ft. Everything is Historicaly correct with the exception of White Beach's. I had to widen them for play. I would like to Dedicate this scenario to Felix J. Boarwski, my Father-who fought in the Pacific.
