[Nijmegen, Holland]:[H2H and Teamgame]:[HIS]:[BB]: [options on except AF and VV] In the history of the 82nd US Airborne Division the 20th of September 1944 came to be known as "unprecedented in the division's combat history". Minus 1 regiment that hadn't landed yet, the entire division would be in desperate combat on this day. As 19 September hadn't brought control over the Nijmegen bridges, General Gavin developed a bold and dangerous plan for a daylight river crossing over the Waal by the 504th PIR, to seize the bridges from the north bank. For Gavin, fighting on on just the south end for perhaps days until the Germans would retreat and blow up the bridges behind them, wasn't an option, knowing that eleven miles to the north the British paratroopers were being destroyed, while his division hadn't even secured any of the Nijmegen bridges. In the meantime, the Germans had other plans in store. 3 Kampfgruppen were assembled in and around the western edge of the Reichswald. Fieldmarshal Model ordered them to attack the American paratroopers with a threefold goal: 1. Splitting the American 82nd Division. 2. Capturing of the lock bridge at Heumen; the only bridge at that time capable of carrying heavy equipment over the Maas-Waal canal. 3. Relieving the SS troops in Nijmegen. [Notes for the players: On the Allied side each of the players get's to command a PIR with attachments. Unattached units can be divided as the players see fit. On the German side, each of the players gets to command a "Kampfgruppe". The units in and around Nijmegen are commanded by the commander of "KG Greschick" (player 3) since that is the weakest of the units in the east. Unattached units can be divided as the players see fit.]

This is a detailed historical scenario and thus lends itself to players who are playing CS as a simulations rather than for pure competition.

If you like historical scenarios on the west front this is a must. Options for both players to win.
Remko van den Berg
it should be played with EA off
Death~Dealer
Highly recommended for PBEM- outstanding challenges and strategic options for both players. Can standalone player-vs-player or team-vs-team.
RADO
I feel this is an excellent team game scenario.
Crossroads
Once the fighting starts it never stops. Preserving one's capability to do battle for the duration of the 40 turns seems like a good idea ;)

Death~Dealer
This scene is masterfully designed. It contains a historically accurate battle map with valid orders of battle. There are elements of attack and defend for both sides along with a river crossing element. This is a must-have for PBEM players.

I gave this a slightly pro axis balance only because of the Allies supply level of 50. This causes big problems for the allies throughout the game. In the beginning of the scenario the Axis is in control, with elite SS units defending Nijmegen and a concerted mass attack led by elite Fallschirmjager in the general direction of Groesbeek. It is essential for the American paratroopers to fall back and not get gobbled up on the front line. Once on the heights, they're much better able to defend. The healthy flood of Allied reinforcements, especially armor, eventually tips the scales. The key question becomes, do the Allies have what it takes to cross the Waal at Nijmegen? It's essential for them to take a couple of those victory point hexes in order to gain victory. Overall, a excellent, although
often frustrating scenario from the Allied perspective.

Kind of a one sided affair. But in the actual battle the Allies did cross the Waal River. The supply levels were disappointing at 50% and as the German player the lack of a few more heavier pieces of artillery may have helped. The 2-SP 81mm Mortars really don't do much and spend a lot of time trying to move within range. Scenario needs some more work in my opinion.
