After the success of General Bradley's Operation Cobra, the German Army was reeling back toward the east. The next logical line of defense was the Seine River, but Hitler's ill-fated counterattack at Mortain had ruined all chances of establishing a solid defensive line behind this formidable river barrier. To the best of their ablility, however, they scraped together what resources they could, and raced them into position at some of the most critical crossing points. One such crossing point was the city of Troyes, located southeast of Paris. Troyes was squarely in the line of advance of the US 4th Armored Division, the vanguard of Patton's Third Army ever since the breakout at Avranches, and now the easternmost division in all of France. It was now up to the men of Major General "P" Wood's crack division to leade the way across the Seine, and pave the way toward Germany.

One of the most challenging scns I ever played. A real thinker for both sides with no room for error. The large map ensures a great replay value. In fact all 4 testgames I played for this scenario took focused on different areas and different crossing points.

Beautiful map. Scenario needs to be re-balanced, though. If the Allied player plays his cards correctly, he should be able to achieve at least a draw, and most likely a Minor Victory; there's little the Axis player can do about. Best played blind.

Allies have a lot of time to concentrate the forces and pick up objectives one by one. Unless they attack the city head on first, it is really difficult for the Germans to get to anything better than a draw playing against a skilled player.
