*In order to play this scenario in WF you must install the accompanying Facist Italian unit modifications* - North of Kassala, Sudan: On the 4th of July, Italian forces crossed into the British Sudan from Eritrea. The overwhelmingly outnumbered British force at Kassala chose not to fight in the town and withdrew, allowing a relatively bloodless Italian occupation. Characteristically, the Italians halted their advance and began to fortify their gains before continuing their advance toward Khartoum. The Italian troops around Kassala began to think that their war would be more against the ubiquitous blister beetles and red ticks than against the British. Conversely, the sparse British forces in the area were not idle. As they had begun to do along the border between Libya and Egypt, Commonwealth troops initiated aggressive harrasing raids on the north and south flanks of the Italian force. On the night of the 6th of August, a small detachment of the Sudanese Defense Force, strong in machine guns and bolstered with a sprinkling of British regulars, raided the Italian positions just to the north of Kassala.
