Bloody Rheinberg - The Matrix Games version of West Front

Rheinberg, Germany [Best played H2H] The 8th Armored Division crossed the Roer on 27 February, 1945 and assisted the 35th and 84th Infantry Divisions in their push eastward, taking Tetelrath and Oberkruchten. Encouraged by the sweet taste of success, the "Thundering Herd" began a push north to Wesel to cross the Rhine. With only light resistance expected, Colonel Kimball led CCB through Lintfort and attacked northeast. The mission: Clean out the pocket east of Rheinberg. Meanwhile, coming right out of a three-week battle for the Reichswald, combat units of the 116. Panzer Division braced for yet another attack, with no time to rest or reorganize. The once mighty division was down to two kampfgruppes, each about a weak battalion in strength. Strung out behind the few remaining panzers, a motley column of worn combat vehicles and tired, but experienced, panzergrenadiers of the "Windhund" division march stoically into defensive positions south of Rheinberg.
