On Christmas morning, Kamfpegruppe Maucke of the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division and the 77th Grenadier Regt of the 26th Volks Grenadier Division assualted postions along the northwestern perimeter of Bastogne's defenses. The American defenses consisted of the 502nd Airborne Regt and Company "A" of the 327th Glider Regt, reinforced with Armor and Tank Destroyers. The German attack was launched without prior reconnaissance and KG Maucke was quickly ambushed by American 57 mm anti-tank weapons. KG Maucke brushed aside the American resistance and split into two groups one headed for Hemroulle and the second for Champs. The 77th Grenadier however was stopped cold. In the end the Germans failed to breakthrough, can you make it to Bastogne?
