Counterattack at Meijel - The Matrix Games version of West Front

Meijel, 50 km east of Eindhoven [Best played against a Human opponent] On 27th October 1944 the German XXXXVII Pz. Korps unexpectedly launched a counterattack against the 7th Armored Division in the Peel region in the South of the Netherlands. The Allies didn't expect an attack in this swampy area with few good roads. Initially, the 87th Recon Squadron was the only unit that opposed the Germans. It was brushed aside by units of the 9. Pz. Division. General Silvester, who commanded the 7th Armored, sent Task Force Chappuis of CCR/7th Armored Division to drive the Germans back towards Meijel. At the same time 9. Pz. Aufklaerungs Abt. and I/10. Pz.Gr. Rgt., supported by tanks of the 33. Pz. Rgt. attacked in the opposite direction.
