Agny, S of Arras, France: [Best played as Allied] With the successful penetration to the French coast by elements of the 2nd Panzer on 20 May, the German armored spearheads had opened a 20-mile wide corridor to the English Channel, leaving the Allied armies in Belgium and northern France encircled with their backs to the sea. With the situation growing more desperate by the day, the French high command finally authorized an attack to the south at Arras by a portion of the British Expeditionary Force. On the 21st the hastily organized "Frankforce" struck the 7th Panzer Division. With their anti-tank guns nearly useless against the armor of the British heavy infantry tanks, by the end of the day panic was rampant among the leading German formations. On the 22nd, Rommel struggled to rally his scattered panzers and the 6th Rifle Regiment south of Arras. Meanwhile, the 4th and 7th Royal Tank Regiments prepared to thrust through Agny and Beaurains to the Cojeul River.
