The Germans forced to retreat set up a strong hold with heavy armor in the city of Wiltz just across the French border and prepared a counteroffensive taking advantage of poor weather conditions to rail in reinforcements.
The US meanwhile could not bomb the rail bridges due to weather but did parachute in British commandoes to take them out as the prelude to a 4th Army armored offensive. The Germans were dug in and ready with everything including rail guns.
