Er Regima Pass, 20km E of Benghazi, Libya: [Best played as Axis] After defeating the British at Mersa el Brega, Rommel split the Afrika Korps into three columns of advance. The middle column drove straight for the British dumps at Msus. The right hand column drove toward Mechili to cut off the 2nd Armoured Division. The left hand column, led by the daring Lt. Col. Baron von Wechmar and his 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, followed the coast road to Benghazi. On 4 April, in true panzer commander fashion, von Wechmar dashed into the recently vacated city and turned east toward Mechili to close the trap on the retreating British forces. About 20km east, at Er Regima pass, he ran into the Australian rear guard, an infantry battalion supported by 25pdrs.
