Escape Along the Salm - The Matrix Games version of West Front

By now the bulk of the US forces in and around St.-Vith had been
evacuated through Vielsalm. What was left, straggling along the
Salm valley was Task Force 'Jones'. It consisted of what was
left of 14th Cavalry group, two tankdestroyer companies of 814th
TD batallion, the 440th Field artillery batallion and some rearguard
troops. Jones' force was trying desperately to gain Vielsalm
and link up with the main force. Speed was of the essence since
the germans were trying to seal off the escape route. Kampfgruppe
'Krag' (2nd SS Pz.Div.) was racing ahead to take Salmchâteau
on the west bank of the river, while elements of the Führer
Grenadier Brigade were moving up from the south.
