Carpiquet, 4km W of Caen, France: [Best played against Human opponent] Having fallen short of their D-Day objectives through inertia more than through enemy resistance, the Canadians had a second chance on D+1. While the rest of the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division dug in, elements of the 2nd Canadian Armored Brigade and the 9th Canadian Infantry Brigade advance south towards the critical Carpiquet airfield. At the same time the Germans were desperately racing to mass the 21st and 12th SS Panzer Divisions for the much threatened "drive to the channel". Hindered by massive Allied air interdiction, only Kurt Meyer's 25th SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment reached their division's start line in time. Instead of attacking, the Hitlerjuegend grenadiers were forced into a hasty defense with an open left flank and a key objective at their backs. Both sides knew that the building troop levels in Normandy meant that the opportunity for a decisive victory was steadily slipping away. Neither side could afford to let that happen!

Valor
Very good, well balanced and entertaining scenario. Lot's of opportunities for manouver for both sides.
Big Dawg
This was a game between a semi-vet (me) & a newbie (Tiger321). I have played both sides & won on both sides. Both opponents can win this scenario. I still enjoy playing it because it has several options for both sides.

This is my first PBEM game at The Blitz. I never imagined I would have such a big victory.
Jeepster777
A scenario well worth playing just for the "where is the enemy" factor....great places to defend for the Germans and lots of room to move for the Allies...........
The Rattler
allies need release by certain turn ...opponent never got released

Allied artillery is excessive; pro allied scenario

I unintentionally played with the advantage of viewing the scenario before play, so credit here goes to Nemesis. In terms of the scenario the Allies Arty is too powerful.
Jim von Krieg
Good scenario with multiple paths to victory. Allied artillery is ever present and very dangerous. It is hard to get a Major victory without taking the Allied VP Hexes which are strongly covered by fixed units and large late releasing formation of Allied tanks and troops.

If the Axis take an agressive offense, there's not much the Allies can do.

Axis in good defensive positions but overpowered by strong allied artillery throughout.

Nice game. A very "different" setup with a lot of British firepower fixed for the duration and out of the game. Also a ton of artillery, but with limited range. I will say it presents problems, and forces decisions.

There are but two avenues of attack for the allies where the attacks are on each side of the map and do not support one another. A smart German player should be able to determine where those attacks will be and be ready for them. However, the Axis player will have to draw on widely spread forces and organize them to successfully ward off the Allied player.

By results, one of the most balanced games for PBEM in the scenario depot. Both sides have advantages that must be leveraged. Allies have massive artillery resources, but much of it is located far away. Allies have a quantitative advantage in armor. Allies also have a ton of smoke rounds. Axis have an advantage in their infantry firepower, and the panzers can inflict damage against armor at longer ranges than Allied tanks. Also, the German 120mm mortars are deadly, though shorter-ranged than Allied artillery.

I can't say as I misplayed my hand. But it looks as though it could be a test for either side.
