Glider Assault on Vassieux - The Matrix Games version of West Front

Vassieux, the Vercors 50 km SW of Grenoble in France: [can be played as either side but a definite challenge as the French.] The 500th SS Parachute Battalion was rebuilt after it's May jump on Tito's mountain HQ and deployed in a similar role to France where it spearheaded the offensive against the Maquis held Vercors, a natural mountain redoubt near Grenoble. The SS battalion was to glider assault the newly built airstrip and liquidate all resistance. On the 20th of July, the day that Hitler's Generals tried to kill him, the Maqis defenders of Vassieux looked skyward to see more aeroplanes about to drop supplies to them when horrified they slowly realized that these planes had black crosses and that the gliders landing on their field were full of the hated SS. It would be a fight to the death!
