Hello Gentlemen:

NOTE: VERSION 2 please use this zip file and have everyone download the new files.

This is a model of Operation Epsom, the attempt by the Scotsmen to march up Hill 112 and take it from the Germans.

1944

Anyone familiar with Normandy will be familiar with this battle, but for those new to it, check this scenario out.

It's a barnburner.

Regards,

Dan

Large but fun to play. Set up as a team game but manageable as one on one.

If you ever read any history about Hill 112 - then you know how important this hill was and how bloody the fighting was. In Dan's design he brings this heavy fight to life! Germans get the long guns to defend the hill - but the Allies have the men and machine to take it. Dan will be altering this design after our play testing to make this another Classic!

Allies are very heavy in this one...germans get reinforced but not soon enough though. Once Allies get rolling there really is no stopping them.

Hello Gentlemen:

Jesse let me know there were some issues with the game files so I have updated them with my latest Zip file. It should work fine. I have not trimmed this yet, so the general consensus is that the Germans have either a slight or a moderate advantage. When I get around to this I will try to balance it better. Then again, overall, the games have been split, so I may be trying to fix what isn't broke.

In any case...this version plays well and I believe it is a faithful recreation of that happened at Hill 112.

Dan

The Germans need to be Masters in the fine art of a fighting withdraw in order to have a chance in this one.

ABSOLUTELY Tony.
They pulled it off in the real battle...can our intrepid Blitznards do worse?

That was some FINE dancing by some VERY shot up Germans.
Honestly, if they hadn't tried to wade though massive offshore cruiser artillery the second night, it would probably still be going.

Germany put a lot on the line here, and some of their finest from the EF theater as well.

And don't anyone think for a minute Operation Cobra would have been the smashing success it was...had those Scots not marched up that bloody hill...again...and again. Keeping in contact, biting them by the nose, and hanging on, no matter the cost.

The 15th was one of those rare divisions. They went from untested green troops to seasoned veterans to shot up and devastated in about 3 days. They also remind me of John (von luck) who is my favorite Scotsman...;)

To me, these brave men were the British empire's equivalent to those boys up on Little Roundtop back in 1863...listening to all those Rebels charging once again.

Even though war sullies everything it touches, here were citizen soldiers, school teachers and guys/blokes or chaps who could play the bagpipe, who faced the elephant and emerged victorious. Every commander dreams this is his division, but very few are correct. This type of bravery is one of the reasons we celebrate and continually revisit this awful business known as war.

I knew little about this fight until one of you...Von Luck maybe...cued me in on this little book called "Hill 112" by Maj. JJ Howe.
I highly recommend it.

Regards,

Dan
