Dom Butgenbach, Belgium (Best Played Human vs Human) After three days of trying to break through the American positions of the 2nd and 99th Infantry Divisions along the northern shoulder of the Bulge, elements of the 12SS panzer Division and 12 VG Division were routed south in an attempt to outflank the American positions. During the dark, early morning hours of December 19, the Germans attempted their first strike in force towards the vital town of Butgenbach. In the face of the glaring light of flares that illuminated the battlefield, the pounding of American artillery, and the unflinching defense of the U.S. 2nd Battalion, 26th Regiment, the Germans fell back and regrouped. At 10:10 AM, under the veil of fog and mist, they were ready to try it again.
