Mai Timchet ford, Takazze River, Northern Abyssinia) (H2H) (HISB) The Italian invasion commenced on 3 October 1935, when three army corps crossed the northern frontier. Abyssinian* resistance was surprisingly quick to develop, despite being subject to woeful communications.....runners were vital...... lack of coordination and a lack of appreciation of the requirements of large scale modern warfare. Clan and faction rivalries were endemic, and Emperor Haile Selassie could not be sure of the loyalty of some of his chiefs But...their fathers and grandfathers had whipped a division sized Italian force in 1896 at Adowa. Bring the new ones on!! Working to a general idea of concentrating in the northern areas to confront and outflank of the enemy advance, Ras Imru of Gojjam, on the left of the Abyssinian drift northwards, advancing on the line of the main Gondar -Axum track deployed his forces for a two pronged attack on the vital Mai Timchet ford, and the approaches to the strategic Dembeguina Pass towering over it.
[Special Notes:[NVV] [NEA]. Today's Ethiopia was more generally known as Abyssinia in the 1930s. The Abyssinians had weak fire power, but were formidable close combat warriors. So up close and personal is the way to go. Aim for disruption and assault. Game is designed for Extreme Assault "OFF."
