November 1942 [H2H] Hypothetical. Based on the the early analysis, that the invasion of North Africa would be unopposed by the occupying French forces, many ports were scheduled to be taken by Coup De Main. This is one such operation. Luckily, for the Americans, they were able to enter the port in darkness and establish a small beachhead. Their task was to drive inland cut the main road and nulify any French resistance that might show itself. To either side of the port units of the 1st Armored Division were making their way inland, against scattered and sporadic resistance. To their surprise the Americans came to enter the war against the Germans and found themselves fighting the French.
