Operation Quick Anger - The Matrix Games version of West Front

In the spring of 1945 the British II Army pushed on once again, aiming for the control of the Northern and Eastern coastal areas of Germany. While this offensive was very succesfull, other troops among which Canadians opened up smaller operations to cross the German held IJsselriver-line and free the Dutch population in the West. One such operation was "Quick Anger" carried out by the British 49th Infantrydivision; they chose Westenvoort as location, just East of Arnhem to cross the IJssel. In order to make this possible a large amphibious force of Buffaloes was gathered, who assaulted the German positions in the early hours of darkness assisted by a haeavy artillery barrage. Meanwhile a pontoonbridge was constructed to support the infantry attack with tanks, which for gaming purposes is already on the map. After one day of hard fighting the city of Arnhem, desolated and destroyed after Market-Garden, was finally liberated. Complexity: 5 Turns: 30
