[Version 1.2, 11-11-2006] After 4 days Market Garden entered a crucial phase. The British paratroopers at Oosterbeek were seriously threatened and the main supply line, the Corridor, was still much too narrow especially between St. Oedenrode and Grave. Under cover of darkeness the US paratroopers of the 501st Regiment had succesfully taken Schijndel the during the night of 21-22 september in an attempt to widen the corridor. Despite this succes the bottleneck in the corridor was still in the Veghel region. The Germans were well aware of this fact and therefore General Student had decided to order a push for the Veghel bridge by launching an attack from two directions. From the east KG Walther, reinforced by Von Maltzahn's 107th Panzer Brigade would attack through Erp towards the corridor. From the west, KG Huber, consisting 2 batallions of the 59th Infantry division, would try to reach and destroy the Veghel bridge. In the morning of 22 September the Germans moved out. While KG Huber did not succeed in reaching the bridge from the west, mainly due to the arrival of 2 batallions of the 327th Glider Regiment, the corridor was cut by Von Maltzahn's Panzer Brigade. The Brigade repelled all Allied attempts to drive them from the corridor. As Walther's southern front came under increasing Allied pressure he ordered the Brigade to retreat from the corridor. The German attack had proven to be a major setback for Market Garden. It was not over yet: 2 days later Germans managed to cut the corridor once more. This time from the west. [Note: Thsi scenario is designed to be played with the optional rule Armor Facing OFF].
OOB, setup, terrain and victory conditions work only for allied side. Not the silghtest chance for the axis.
Forget it!
Best played Blind.....
I would recommend playing it with the extreme assault rules off.
