Panzers push towards Breda - The Matrix Games version of West Front

In the early morning of 13 may the French 25th Motorised Infantry Division was ordered to fall back to a new defensive position running from Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands to Minderhout in Belgium for protecting Antwerp. This was done because of the rapid advance of the Germans in Belgium. Just at the same time the German XXVI Corps attacked in the area of Breda with the southern column of the 9th Panzer Division and the SS Verfuegungs Division. It was a complete chaos in Breda, where the 2/38 battalion was trying to disengage from the fighting and the recontroops remained in town. The Germans were already in posession of Ginneken and pushed their offensive over the bridge here, hopefully cutting off large segments of French troops. It would become a daring task of holding the lines behind the rivers Mark and Dintel and break it off in time for a retreat to the newly ordered positions.
