Primasole Bridge - The Matrix Games version of West Front

ALLIED HUMAN PLAYER - Primasole Bridge, over Simeto river, was one of the most important objectives of allied army in Sicily. That bridge was the only way to Catania and his plain. Monty launch a great airborne action with 1900 men of the 1st airlanding brigade transported by 126 Dakota and 19 Albermarle. The result was that only 200 para landing near the objective. Simultaneously also the axis high command consider the bridge an important objective. For this reason 1st FJ engineer bataillon of the 1st FJ division was send by airplane to reinforce the italian garrison of the bridge. Next also the 4th regiment of the 4th FJ division march forward in Primasole direction. The flop of the airborne action force the allied command to send as soon as possible the 151st brigade of the 50th infantry Division to help the paratroops. The 1st engineer FJ bataillon retake the bridge after a fierce hand to hand combat. An important support was offer by some AS 42 (Camionetta Sahariana) of the Italian Arditi bataillon arrived at Primasole. But the upstarts (the 6th, 8th and 9th Durham light infantry with some Churchill) did useless the valorous efforts of Fallschirmjager. The bridge was take by allied after four day of hard fighting. The way for Catania is open.....
