Arnhem Bridge, 100km E of Rotterdam, Holland: [Best played as Axis] The success of Operation Market Garden depended entirely on the British First Airborne Division seizing and holding the bridge at Arnhem. The presence of SS troops came as a surprise and by the evening of the 17th, only the reinforced 2nd Battalion/1st Parachute Landing Brigade had gotten to bridge. After intense fighting through the night Colonel Frost's Red Devils could only capture its northern end and the battalion fell back, determined to hold its position until help arrived. With his scouting mission between Arnhem and Nijmegen complete, Captain Grabner turned his reconnaissance battalion north towards Arnhem to rejoin the 9th SS Panzer Division. He had not seen any enemy activity when he crossed the bridge the night before. However, from radio reports he knew that some British troops were holding the northern approaches. Against lightly armed paratroopers he planned to quickly smash through the British defenders and secure the bridge.

Difficult to begin with. Impossible with the variable visibility and close assault rules.

As the axis forces, I was trying to cross the bridge, worried that the AT gun from the allies side of the river was going to knock out my small armored cars on the bridge and then block the bridge, I tried attrition of ranged fire from the German bunkers, little or no affect. So if your going to go for it, go full blast and don't stop, use your artillery fire to soften up the hexes next to the allied end of the bridge. That may work.
