Isthmus of Corinth: [Best Played Against Human Opponent or Allied Computer] The issue in Greece was no longer in doubt: the last units of the Greek Army had surrendered the day before and W. Force was attempting to withdraw to evacuation points in the fingers of the Peloponnesus. This greatly increased the importance of the narrow isthmus at Corinth with its lone bridge spanning the Corinth Canal. An ad hoc "Isthmus Force" composed of British, Australians, and even a few Greek die hards were scattered on both sides of the canal. At 7AM Stukas and fighters attacked the bridge knocking out most of the anti-aircraft defenses. Soon afterword the silent approach of parachutes and gliders announced the start of the battle for the Corinth Bridge.
