Panzergrenadier Regiment attacked Verdenne shortly afterwards. A couple hours later, Kampgruppe Bayer arrived. Then, American General Bolling ordered the 771st Tank Battalion into action. Meanwhile, the 2. Panzer Division pushed west toward Foy-Notre Dame, but placed Kampfgruppe Gutmann south of Marche for flank protection. General Manteuffel, 5. Panzer Armee commander, wanted the 116. Panzer Division to cut the Marche-Hotton Road and prevent the Americans from reinforcing Marche from Hotton. Can the 116. Panzer Division make a breakthrough?
