0n 1 October, l3 Corps of Eighth Army began the attack on the enemy's Biferno River positions of the German Barbara-line. The 78th Division on the coast directed toward Termoli began the assault against the 1st German Paratroop Division on the night of 2/3 October, when a Special Services (Commando) Brigade made a successful seaborne landing behind the enemy lines in the town of Termoli, while the 78th Division attempted to bridge the Biferno south of the town. The British landing took the enemy by surprise. Termoli was quickly taken and connection was soon made between the Cornmandos and 78th Division across the river. After the conquest of Termoli, the 36th Infantry Brigade landed on the port of Termoli. At dawn on the 4th, Kesserling ordered to push the English Division to the see. The Germans began their counterattack with a bombing and 2 Kampfgruppe (KG Stempel and KG von Doering) of the 16th Panzer division over from the west, and exerted increasing pressure in the effort to drive the British from their newly gained positions.

No much hope for the allies IMO. First time as far as I remember that I didn´t knew what to do with my reinforments because I already had so many troops
