Remagen on the River Rhine, Germany, about 24kms south of Bonn. (Best played as Allies, or better still human v human). On the morning of 7th May 1945, CCB of 9th US Armoured Division headed East towards the Rhine. Upon reaching the Rhine at Remagen, their orders were then to head south. It was not expected that the Ludendorff Railway Bridge at Remagen would still be standing when they got there. However, Hitler had given his demolition teams on the Rhine bridges impossible instructions; they were to blow the bridges at the last possible moment to allow German troops to escape over the river. But to guard against possible accidental detonation, the demolition charges were not to be prepared in advance. If a bridge was blown too early or too late, the officer in charge was to be executed! Therefore when CCB got to the heights above Remagen, they were astonished to see the bridge still standing! CCB's commanders hurriedly decided to ignore their orders and attack the bridge, and capture the first crossing point over the mighty River Rhine.
