Normandy, June 7th 1944. Best played against human opponent. At 15:05 on the afternoon of D-Day, the OKW informed the 7. Armee that from that time the 21. Pz.Division and the 12. SS-Pz.Division would be under command of the 1. SS-Pz.Korps with orders to repell the English and Canadians to the sea on June 7th. When SS-Standartenfuhrer Kurt Meyer, Commander of SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt 25 ("Hitlerjugend" division) arrives at the Abbaye d'Ardenne on 7th June in the morning, he discovers that the 9th Canadian Brigade is about to march past his troops at hardly 1000 metres away, without realizing the presence of the ennemy. At 14:00, the Canadians are about to cross Route Nationale 13 and capture the Carpiquet airfield who has been evecuated by Luftwaffe ground personnel during the night. Meyer knows he cant wait for the scheduled attack to begin at 16:00 and, even if the whole division has yet to arrive, he decides to strike the flank of the canadian column in a devastating surprise echelon attack with his own regiment and the Panzer IVs of II./Pz.Rgt. 12.
