Bourguebus Ridge, 9km south of Caen, France: [Best played as Allied or vs Human] On the second day of Field Marshal Mongomery's 'Operation Goodwood,' the Germans were steadily driven out of Caen by the Canadian II Corps, but the Germans were determined to hold the high ground south of the city known as Bourguebus Ridge. The preceeding day the British had lost over 200 tanks and 1,500 men without achieving a decisive breakthrough. The German Tigers and Panthers backed by 88mm guns formed a ring of steel around the ridge and the network of fortified hamlets at its base. Throughout the 19th some of the most famous regiments in the British and Canadian Armies -the Canadian Black Watch, Essex Scots, and the British 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry- faced off against the cream of the German armored forces -the 1st SS 'Leibstandarte' and the newly arrived 12th SS 'Hitlerjugend' Divisions. After weeks of savage and bloody fighting the British christened Caen "The Crucible."

A good attempt at a historical scenario. one feels the hopelessness of the Germans aginst the Allies materiel. Could do with better commanders integrated in the OOB.
Was created nicely to represent the historical aspects. As far as game play goes, the Allies don't have enough heavy arty to disloge the Germans from the trenches. Hence, just a few units hold up the Allied advance. Then when they do get to the open ground, they are destroyed by the German superior armor. Best as single player game as the Allies or if the weaker player takes the Axis side in a pbem game.
Great map and mix of forces, but the terrain favors the allies and makes holding objectives difficult for the Germans.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
