Location : Carentan, at the base of Cotentin Peninsula. One of the major objectives on D-Day was securing the flanks and stopping german armour from reaching the landing beaches. 101st Airborne was tasked with securing the southern flank of Utah beach by seizing the city of Carentan and the bridges over the Vire-Taute Canal. The presence of the veteran 6th FallschirmJaëger Regiment under command of Baron von der Heydte prevented the completion of this task. It is now June 12, D+6 and the paratroopers of the "Screaming Eagles" are determined to take Carentan.
