H2H Hypothetical. Designed for the Battles in the North tournament. Based on many things that did happen in and around Narvik. The Brits and French wanted to take Narvik, destroy the port, and hinder the Germans prior to the Allied pullout. The Germans wanted to aid the Paras that were holding Narvik and help them from being completely overrun. Holding the port became vital. The French were chasing some German outpost troops up from Beisford, in order to move up armor in support of their troops assaulting from the sea. The British troops drove on Narvik from Straumsnes. Norwegian troops aided both the French and Brits in their pincer like attacks. Prior to the invasion the Germans hastely trained some mountain troops giving them the ability to parachute in to quickly support troops in danger. At Narvik an entire regiment of parachuting mountain men were found to be extremely useful. A wild swirl of fighting took place. Historically the Allied forces were able to take Narvik and hold it temporarily prior to their withdrawal.
Played against a stong German commander such as Jean-Yves(Sgt Bourgogne) the Allies have little chance for even a draw. The strongest allied force is the French armour...but they move so slow and arrive so late in the game that they are useless. The very low morale of the allied infantry gaurantees a total breakdown of all attacks before turn 11.....The victory conditions need adjustment as well.
