This is the first in a short series of scenarios depicting infantry combat on restrictive terrain during World War II. This "mini-campaign" takes place during the long fight up the Italian peninsula. It is early autumn, 1944 and the allies are trying to gain as much ground as they can before the harsh winter comes and slows everything to a near standstill. This first scenario begins the day after an Infantry Division established a bridgehead across a minor river. The allied player commands a well-rested Infantry Regiment that has just come forward during the night. After conducting a relief in place with the regiment that seized the crossing, it moved into its assault positions for the days events. Its mission is to seize the heights overlooking the river crossing and move as far north up the main road as possible. Once the high ground is seized another regiment will pass through and attack to further expand the bridgehead. The german player commands an understrength parachute regiment but is well supported with support weapons. He must hold out as long as he can and make the americans pay for every inch.

a waste of time
It is possible for either side to obtain a MV, It is wise for the allies to keep out of the open and stay under cover while positioning for attacks, allies have a clear path up their right flank to get behind axis rear when motorized. It may be better for the axis to consolidate their forces and not try to defend every objective. Allies have a good tendency to overwhelm these thinly defended one and two unit positions. Axis should move any units that are in the open to a hidden location such as Inf Guns, AA Guns, and ATG. The allied 155mm arty can be be a big problem. Troll
