Marcellino River, south of Augusta, Sicily [best played as Allies]. After the taking of Siracusa, the 17th Brigade of the 5th British Infantry Division sent the 6th Seaforth Highlanders Battalion northwards, to meet the SRS force which was about to attack the lightly defended Italian naval base of Augusta from the sea. A few miles south of the town, it stumbled over a battalion of the Italian "Napoli" Infantry Division, the task of which was to guard the southern approach to Augusta and to oppose a possible landing. The Italian force even counterattacked but it finally had to withdraw to avoid destruction.
