Butgenbach, Belgium (Best played Human vs Human) After hitting strong American resistance east of Elsenborn during the first three days of the Ardennes Offensive, the 12SS Panzer and 12 VG Divisions moved south in an attempt to outflank the positions of the U.S. V Corps. But before they could drive east of Bullingen, the 26th Regiment of the U.S. 1st Infantry Division had dug in along the road leading to Butgenbach. During the dark early morning hours of December 19, the Germans struck, only to be turned back by heavy artillery fire and well positioned AT guns. At 10:10 A.M, they tried again, this time attacking in greater force. But once again, the American positions held. The Germans regrouped during the night of the 19/20, and now reinforced with more panzers from the 12 SS, they would try for a third time to break the American northern shoulder of the Bulge. But the Americans had brought in reinforcements of their own, and the Germans would soon discover that the road to Butgenbach was not going to be an easy one.

This one is definitely tough for the Axis. Good planning and a willingness to absorb losses are a necessity if playing as Axis.

Third time isn't a charm, unless you're the allies.
Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. --Walt Kelly
