Dover, 25km SE of Canterbury, England: [Hypothetical; Best played as Axis] Operation Sealion has begun! During the early morning of July 14th, German airborne troops had dropped behind the shoreline stretching from Dover to Hythe in southeastern England, to clear the way for amphibious landings. However, surprise had not been complete and the airborne operations had not gone as planned, leaving the paratroopers locked in a desperate struggle for survival with the British defenders. The assault divisions had to get ashore at once! Leading the 6th Mountain Division's amphibious landing to capture the port facilities at Dover and Folkestone, the reinforced 141st Regiment would have to fight its way up Eagle Beach and steep cliffs from between the objectives. Invasion plans had called for the cliffs to be secured by the 1st Parachute Regiment, which had been only partly successful. Instead, by dawn the shore defenses were fully alerted and the machine-gunners of the Irish Guards and Home Defense Battalions had moved into positions along the sea front. Now they waited for the German invaders to appear from the mist and begin their long bloody crawl up from the sea. Design Note: Special thanks to Jason Petho for the use of his England maps.
