Breakout and Pursuit 44 - War in the West

From the rubble strewn streets of Caen and St.Lo to the sodden fields of the Cotentin the Allies have fought a battle of attrition with the Germans for two long months. With progress on the ground behind estimates and casualties ahead a bold stroke is needed to break the stalemate before the fall rains set in. That stroke comes in the form of Operation Cobra, Omar Bradley's plan to blast a hole in the German line and push Patton's Third Army through it. Success of Cobra could end the War in 1944 but only if Allied leadership can remain bold as their plan.
