Having broken out from the Normandy Beachhead the Allies have advanced rapidly across France and are now nearing the German border with its formidable defenses known to the Germans as the Westwall. The Germans appear to be in disarray but the Allies are beginning to experience severe logistical problems including a lack of supplies and low equipment availability.
