Almonacid 11th August 1809 - Variant scenario using the alternative pdt and gun sections. With the victorious British forced to retreat after Talavera, the French decided to deal with Venegas' Spanish army so that Madrid would be secure. Underestimating the French strength at 14,000 rather than 21,000, Venegas hoped for an easy victory, so made preparations for attacking the enemy. However, the impetuous French general Sebastiani decided to attack first, without waiting for reinforcements under King Joseph.
