Action at Grijo 11 May 1809 - Soult had been unable to make contact with either Lapisse or Ney and thus had no prospect of securing any reinforcements for an advance on Lisbon. Meanwhile, a British army under Wellesley advancing up from Lisbon forced Franceschi's cavalry and Mermet's infantry to fight a rearguard action at Grijo before retreating back to rejoin Soult's main army at Oporto. Note: Unless they can inflict significantly heavier losses on the French, it will be essential for the Allies to exit troops to achieve a victory, since the French also have exit hexes.
