Redinha 12 March 1811 - In pursuit of Massena's VIe Corps, Wellesley's Anglo-Portuguese army discovered that the enemy had fallen back from Venda da Cruz and taken up a new defensive position in front of Redinha. Suspecting that VIIIe Corps might also be nearby, Wellesley was reluctant to launch a hasty assault and so waited until the 4th Division had moved up to join the Light and 3rd Divisions. Two additional British divisions were advancing from Venda da Cruz. Leaving the 4th Division and Pack's brigade directly facing the French in the centre, Wellesley sent the Light Division and 3rd Division forward to outflank both the French flanks. This forced the enemy to beat a hasty retreat to the bridge.
