Rolica 17 August 1808 British Assault - After Delaborde had pulled back his French from Rolica to a better defensive position south of Columbeira to avoid being outflanked, Colonel Lake of 29th Foot made the mistake of attempting to force the strong French position by direct assault and paid with his life. With Wellesley yet to arrive to take control of the situation, other British units joined in the attack.
