Sabugal 3 April 1811: 24 turn variant. Hoping to isolate and destroy Reynier's II Corps by an outflanking manoeuvre, Wellington planned to send the Light Division across the Coa river to the south of the enemy position whilst the 3rd and 5th Division launched simultaneous attacks against the French front. The 1st and 7th Divisions would be held in reserve but ready to support. However, this plan was thwarted by dense fog, Erskine's incompetence as well as Beckwith crossing at the wrong ford. Initially, Beckwith's force encountered only the French 4e Leger, but the arrival of additional French forces put the badly outnumbered Anglo-Portuguese troops in serious danger until the arrival of reinforcements under Drummond and, subsequently, also Picton's 3rd Division.
