11 February 1814 - Historical - Intended for Head to Head play - Napoleon's army had destroyed the 9th Russian Corps at Champaubert and with Marmont watching for the Prussians to the east the rest of the army moved on to Montmirail. Brushing aside some Cossacks the column stopped for the night outside of the town. On the morrow Sacken's Russians arrived and made a strong attack on Marchais-en-Brie taking the village and pushing the French out. The French counterattacked several times but were unable to wrest the town from them. Finally Mortier came up and Napoleon launched a strong attack on Sacken's forces. Along with the Guard cavalry they were able to gain the upper hand. Later in the day Yorck's Prussians arrived and both sides were involved in a savage contest. The French were able to get the better hand over the Prussians and caused them and the Russians to retire to the north. Part of Sacken's column became separated and had to retire to the west. Napoleon would continue the pursuit on the morrow.

The French need to attack aggressively from the beginning and the Russians need to be patient and deploy their artillery wisely.
Slow movement due to bad weather. The advantage in artillery lies with the allies. The advantage to the French is that they are mainly Guard units.
