18 February 1814 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - The pursuit on the 17th gave way to a deliberate, though disjointed assault by three French columns against the 4th Armeekorps at Montereau. The Crown Prince of Wurrttemberg was heavily outnumbered but at first was able to blunt the assaults of Victor and Pajol's forces. Once Napoleon arrived the writing was on the wall. The Allies would lose a further 6500 men and several cannon in their attempt to hold the river line so that the remaining Hauptarmee units could reach safety. Despite the victory this battle would be another empty triumph as Napoleon once again failed to bag a sizable force with his maneuvers. Time was running out for him. The French must exit the map with a sizable force in order to win the battle.
