30 March 1814 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - IMPORTANT: Read the "Battle-of-Paris.pdf" file found in the Campaign 1814 folder for the victory conditions and special rules for this scenario - This was the final major battle of the Campaign of 1814 pitting the combined Allied armies against a hastily assembled French force. Mortier commanded the Left Wing, Marmont the Right Wing, while Moncey commanded the Paris Reserves. The French opened the battle with an assault by Marmont's forces against the Allied left to regain lost ground but the resulting Allied counterattack drove them back. The Army of Silesia finally got rolling by the middle of the morning assisted the Hauptarmee forces in pressing the French back to the city gates by 2 PM. Joseph Bonaparte, by noon, had left the city, leaving command of the army to Marmont. There was great determination on the part of the French soldiers to fight but the generals had no desire to continue the war. Shortly after the battle Napoleon was forced to abdicate.
