30 March 1814 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - The finale of the Battle of Paris was played out at the Montmartre hill. Here Maréchal Moncey tried valiantly to hold out with his Paris National Guardsmen. Joseph Napoleon had been on the hill for the morning but by midday had departed the battle. Moncey had been entrusted with the defense of the hill. About 1 PM the forces of Langeron's corps began their attack. He believed that only an attack against the west side of the hill could succeed. His attack was aimed at the village of Les Batignoles. Here the National Guardsmen fought valiantly and held up Langeron's men well. Eventually, however, the weight of numbers was too much for Moncey's brave men and they fell back into the city. Special Rule: The French may not abandon the hill or village until turn 10.

Despite some early blunders with the cavalry, my French still posted a decisive victory. Tough going for the Allies.
